Mitchell Froom - Sensible Songs

If my memory is still functioning correctly, the first time I noticed Mitchell’s name was probably on a Los Lobos album and later with their offshoot band, Latin Playboys.
Latin Playboys consisted of 2 Los Lobos members (David Hidalgo & Louie Perez) with Froom and Tchad Blake, releasing only 2 albums, which sounded like a more experimental, weird version of Los Lobos, great fun!
For most people, though, Froom is known as an often-used producer for big names like Crowded House, Cibo Matto, Richard Thompson, Elvis Costello, a.m.o.
He's credited with revitalising Susanna Vega's career thanks to producing her "99.9 F°" album.
As a musician, he’s been active as well; in fact, he started as a keyboard player and only later turned to producing (usually successfully!) other artists.
Even so, his name still often pops up as a musician, whether on record or in a live setting.
His first solo LP “Dopamine” (1998) was more of a ‘with famous mates’ album, as every song had a different vocalist! Reviews were mixed, but I still like it a lot.
The 2005 follow-up "A Thousand Days" couldn't be more different, solo piano music!
2019 saw the release of "Ether," which Froom describes as a kind of exploring a past sense of the future, think of The Jetsons...
That same year, Froom was announced as a member of the new lineup of Crowded House.
Doing some digging into his past, I found two earlier soundtrack albums: "The Key of Cool" (Café Flesh Soundtrack from 1984) and "Slam Dance", of which the second one is definitely still worth listening to.
This compilation contains a sampling of his activities (purposely arranged not chronologically) as a performer, both solo and as a band member.
