Boulevard of Broken Dreams 1984

Guest blogger Richard wrote:

A few weeks ago, False Memory Foam blog had a CD by The Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and later Koen provided a second CD, and another visitor a third. That is all very well and joyful, but I had hoped someone would share a nice version of their first LP. Mine is not in a pristine condition. It seems no one could share this. Then it must be me. I ripped and spent a few days cleaning it up, cutting away the tics and tocs.
The subtitle on the back "Alle dertien Droef" translates as All Thirteen Sad. It is a lash at the many compilations in The Netherlands with All 13 Good, All 11 Crazy (and 2 even crazier!), Again All 13 Good.

The text on the back reads as follows

This BROKEN DREAMS LP is the logical outcome of three weeks of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” performances held at Amsterdam’s Museumplein between August 17 and September 9, 1984; a selection from the repertoire with which fifteen members of the Boulevard of Broken Dreams orchestra managed to lift the spirits of so many. Thirteen tracks of heartbreak, loneliness, sorrow, and melancholy—together, conclusive proof that shards bring happiness. Nevertheless, try to keep this record intact for as long as possible—one person’s tragedy is another’s remedy.

The upside is that you will have the original sadness in your house.
The downside will be that the quality of the vinyl brings groove grief.

Richard's question: Since I had this record for over thirty years without noticing, it came to my attention when I looked at discogs and saw the cover of this firstling, and I thought, I have this myself. I rummaged through hundreds of albums that were not sorted in any way but found it. What music do you have in your house, totally forgotten, (almost) bought it when you realised you had it all the time.

    1. About 20 years ago I was in Amsterdam and bought a pretty cool CD: Cafe Mundo (An Electro World Experience). Once back home I went through my CD collection I discovered I had it already, although with a completely different cover...

  2. Of these things, yes (as Mr Van Der Laak would say) Of these things. Last week someone posted a Massako album (with discogs link) https://www.discogs.com/master/2659040-Orchestre-Massako-Orchestre-Massako and I thought YES downloaded it and saw it wasn't this with almost identical cover https://www.discogs.com/release/17337418-Mackjoss-Et-LOrchestre-Massako-Vol1
So now Analogue Africa label is in my bad book.
Some time ago I saw a Poly Styrene album, bought it and saw it was a rerelease with different cover.
