Later I learned about her connection with Tom Waits, which made her even more interesting in my books, but in fact Rickie was already a hell of an artist in her own right, with or without Tom.
In Thailand, I bought her “Girl In A Volcano” cassette, and later I got several of her other albums on CD.
One thing I noticed is that, unlike other artists, most of her singles didn't include any special recordings; both sides were just album tracks.
However, I found one exception, her 1989 "Flying Cowboys" album!
Its track "Satellite” was a US hit, but what about the music itself?
Well, with half of Steely Dan, Mr. Walter Becker himself, as producer in charge, a highly polished album was certainly guaranteed!

The one-hit single "Satellite" was issued as an edited, shortened version.
A special double-disc version had a Conversation with Rickie Lee Jones on the second disc.
Two B-sides were non-album, a live collaboration with The Blue Nile ("Easter Parade") and a great cover of the Easybeats ("Friday On My Mind").
Her 2005 anthology Duchess of Coolsville included demo versions of "Satellite”, “Rodeo Girl”, and “Atlas Marker”.
And finally, I found her performing "Flying Cowboys" on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1989.
As a bonus, I’ve added the 2 tracks from her 1988 collaboration with Rob Wasserman, “Duets”, as well as the Daryl Braithwaite cover.
This way, "Flying Cowboys" has become a worthy Deluxe Version double CD!
Note that on JON-KY there have been several Deluxe Editions posted already!
Rickie's cover of "Friday On My Mind" is an exclusive here on HMWYRS as it hasn't been available on the internet anywhere as far as I know.
This one is a rip from a mini CD I managed to find last year!
